VISIT Milwaukee this week announced new hires to increase the organization’s capacity to support the city’s tourism momentum and the Baird Center Expansion. New hires include Laura Nelson as associate director of sales, and Manuel Rocha as national account executive. These new roles will focus on building Milwaukee’s prominence as a top-tier destination for conventions, meetings and trade shows.
Nelson, who brings a wealth of tourism and hotel sales experience, will manage the convention sales department. She recently served as executive director of Engage Franklin, an initiative supporting tourism for the municipal government in Franklin, Wis., as well as previous roles with the City of Oak Creek and the Wisconsin Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Rocha will provide lead generation and sales for Greater Milwaukee as a premier destination for conventions, meetings and trade shows to Midwest markets.
“Milwaukee is experiencing so much positive momentum right now, and we need talented team members like Manuel and Laura to make the most of all the opportunities that are coming our way – and develop new opportunities to help take us to even greater heights,” said Leslie Johnson, Vice President of Sales & Event Experience for VISIT Milwaukee in a press release.
