Milwaukee, a dynamic combination of entertainment, celebration and fun, offers its visitors one-of-a-kind attractions, a lively arts and culinary scene, urban outdoor adventure and state-of-the-art meeting facilities combined with accessibility and ease.
New developments brewing around town are adding to an already vibrant cityscape. This summer, Milwaukee will welcome the ultimate one-of-a-kind attraction. The roar along our city streets will be thunderous as the Harley-Davidson Museum rides into town, welcoming an estimated 350,000 visitors annually. Situated on 20 acres of land along the Menomonee River, just minutes from downtown Milwaukee, the museum’s 130,000-square-foot complex will include exhibit space as well as a restaurant, café, retail shop, the company’s archives, special events facilities and meeting space. Indoor special event space will be able to accommodate meetings in theater-style seating for as large as 1,000, and sit-down dinners for as many as 750. Five meeting rooms, each with views of the Menomonee River, can host groups as small as 10 or as large as 100. And outdoor special event space will handle up to 15,000 people with full-service catering.
Located just down the street from the Harley-Davidson Museum, the area’s number one visitor attraction, Potawatomi Bingo Casino, will complete its $240-million expansion later this year. The expansion will triple the current footprint of the facility with an additional 500,000 square feet of gaming space, two new restaurants, a center lounge and a food court.
Across the river from the museum and scheduled for completion in early summer 2008 is the Iron Horse Hotel. This 102-room property will be the industry’s first luxury boutique hotel geared toward both the business traveler and the growing segment of motorcycle enthusiasts. Unique amenities offered by the hotel will include covered motorcycle parking and an on-site bike wash.
Other hotel developments around town include two projects in the city’s Park East corridor, a visionary area of development that continues the growth and revitalization of downtown. The area’s first project, The Residences on Water, is slated to open in spring 2008. This mixed-use development will house commercial retail, an extended-stay hotel and condominiums. The building will feature LEED technology throughout. The hotel will be a Staybridge Suites by Intercontinental Hotels Group. In late 2009, the area will welcome Hotel Palomar Milwaukee, a Kimpton Hotel. Kimpton was named operator for this 180-room hotel planned as part of a $104-million mixed-use development. The hotel will carry all of the Kimpton hallmarks: luxurious furnishings, an “intense” level of customer service and rates that occupy the upper end of the market.
Add to all of this our state-of-the-art convention campus, made up of three unique venues offering the ultimate in versatility, and an awardwinning CVB, and you’ve got a destination that’s second to none. Meeting planners will be pleased with the services at their disposal, including cutting-edge technological resources and an enthusiastic volunteer corps.
We invite you to discover today’s Milwaukee.
